WEAPON OFFENSES
Types of Weapons Cases we handle:
- Discharge of a Firearm in Public
- Carrying a Concealed Firearm
- Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
- Possession of a Weapon on School Grounds
Above are just a few of the numerous weapons offenses. A good amount of them are Felony gun possession offenses, and a majority of those will result in enhanced penalties. Those enhancements require a minimum amount of time in State Prison. Mere possession of a gun during the commission of a specified offense requires a minimum of 10 years in State Prison without the benefit of gain time. Even if no one is shot, simply firing a gun requires a minimum of 20 years in State Prison without the benefit of gain time.
While serving as a Miami-Dade prosecutor Mr. DeCoste selected as specialized Prosecutors in the Career Criminal / Robbery Unit. A majority of those cases involved the use of weapons. That case work allowed him to acquire valuable experience and knowledge regarding the many weapons offenses, and the intricate laws applying to those offenses.
